The Longer Version

I was born in Illinois and raised in Tennessee. I was an early learner and started college at the age of 15 at the University of Iowa. I eventually graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a Bachelor of Science degree.

I’ve been successful in a number of different careers. After college, I was recruited by a startup retail hardware company and along with other hardworking and visionary people, helped this company to grow to over $1 Billion dollars in sales in under 6 years. I was also involved in the successful IPO of this company.

I started, owned and operated a successful headhunting and staffing company. After only 3 and ½ years, this company was receiving national attention, was doing 7 figures in annual sales, moving rapidly towards 8 figures and I accepted a very lucrative buyout offer.

I have been an executive coach since 1989 and I’ve also worked as a business consultant and seminar leader since 1989. I was a sales group leader for Dale Carnegie for 8 years (part-time in the evenings) where I helped to train hundreds of salespeople in virtually every line of work. I was also an assistant to Anthony Robbins…the world’s most successful and well known business and life coach and I’m a master practitioner of the technology behind much of what Tony teaches…Neurolinguistic Programming or NLP.  I also a big fan and practitioner of EFT (tapping).

I was successful enough at my various ventures that I was able to retire and retire well, for nearly 10 years, while I was just 35 years old. I stayed very active during this early retirement with world travel, living and learning in foreign countries, scuba, flying private planes, sailing and most proudly…parenthood!  A can’t fail investment in a Canadian Telecom did fail, and I was forced to return to the working world – at least for awhile!

I don’t want you to think that I have not made errors in my business career. I’ve certainly made more than my share of mistakes. Underestimating the importance of corporate politics in my early career, starting a company without a fully evolved business plan and inadequate working capital and being forced to scramble from day one, entering into partnerships without a fully developed shared vision, working without a coach…I have made these mistakes and many more! I have learned tremendously from each mistake though, learning all that I can is part of my ethic, and I believe that I bring significant expertise gained from these past errors into my current work.

I work today as an Executive Coach, a Business Consultant, a Seminar Leader and an Author.

I have conducted more than 22,000 one on one coaching sessions and I have successfully worked with more than 300 of the Fortune 500 companies, thousands of business executives in large and small companies and I’ve consulted with hundreds of small companies.

My goals for my clients are always the same:
•To help my clients become completely clear on what they want and why they want it.
•To help them get past whatever issues may be between them and their dreams.
•To help them achieve their wonderful goals as quickly and elegantly as possible.
•And finally, to make sure that my clients have a great time, a blast, along the way.
